Byron is the youngest son of the patriarch of the LeBlaireau family, who owns and manages one of the wizarding world's most lucrative publishing companies. Having come from a very large family (his father is the eldest of eleven siblings) the Hogwarts placement letter couldn't have arrived soon enough. That is not to say that he doesn't adore every single one of his relatives, it was just that they could get a little intense (aunt Katya, for example, had a penchant for trying to get him to dance with her around the drawing room Every Single Night).

His older siblings Tabitha and Chester had both already completed their studies in Hogwarts, and the difference in age between those two and him had always been a private matter of contention for him. Despite having nine uncles and one aunt, he had no cousins close to his age to play with. Sure, he never lacked love and attention, but all he really wanted was a group of misfits with whom he could finally carry out all the pranks he'd been reading about in those novels his sister loved so much.

Byron spent the first few years of school in the Isis School of Wizardry in Egypt, where his uncle Early was working on some digging sites. He had chosen to go to Egypt instead of Hogwarts, as he had been born in the country (though he'd been raised in England), and thus had received the placement letter when he'd turned 11. It was exciting for him, and the Egyptian ways of magic were so much more lax, and gave him more room to experiment with different kinds of magic.

However, in the summer he turned 13, his uncle closed off the dig site in Egypt and went on to another place. His parents had only allowed him to be away because of Early's presence in the country, and so they'd summoned him back to England, pulled some strings with the Board of Governors and gotten him his place back in Hogwarts. Needless to say, he didn't appreciate the change much.

The majority of his family were all sorted into Gryffindor when they attended Hogwarts (with the exception of Aunt Katya who was a Hufflepuff), so it is only natural for Byron to expect to be the latest one to add onto the LeBlaireau Gryffindor legacy when he transferred back to England. His mother, Rosalinde Black-LeBlaireau however keeps reminding him to be completely open and unbiased to any house the Sorting Hat may choose for him.

Overall, as the youngest son of an eldest son, Byron has led quite an easy, fun-filled and perhaps a slightly charmed life. Thus, he is prone to act like a spoiled brat at times, but he is a good kid and has a reasonable grasp on the concept of right-and-wrong. He's just starting to figure out what kind of person he will be.
