General appearance: Casually put together, so much so that it looks as if he just rolled out of bed and threw on the first thing he could grab.
Personality: Easy going, hard working and just a little bit judgemental. He's proud as hell and feels like he always has to work twice as hard as everyone else to prove himself. He likes to keep to himself, due to the fact that he feels as if the other students at Solways are just going to find something about him to poke fun at, but he doesn't go out of his way to be alone or keep others at bay.
History & Family: Ben was born in Connecticut to a single mother. His parents were high school students and the boy who was his biological father refused to acknowledge that Ben was his son. His mother and maternal grandparents chose to raise him on their own and they got by just fine until his grandfather was forced into an early retirement due to a heart condition. Their meagre savings went towards medical bills and Ben got an after school job at a local coffee shop to get some extra money. While there, he met the owner's son who taught him to play the guitar... which Ben took to with amazing speed. Over the next year, he learned to play from books and the late night coffee shop crowd until he was ready to perform on his own. After playing a few gigs, where he managed to display his own special touch to the guitar strings...
One of the music teachers from Solways was present at one of his gigs and approached him after one of his sets. He was informed about the Hubert's scholarship and after much, much deliberation Ben decided to go for it. After a few months, when he had completely forgotten about the whole application, he received a letter in the mail informing him that he'd been shortlisted and was requested to go down to the school for an audition. Two weeks later, he was in.
After being in the school for three years, he's come to realize that he has a very special talent for music. He writes his own songs and practices late at night… but in the three years he’s been here, nobody has heard him sing one of his own pieces.
Pets: None, he had a golden retriever back home but they had to give him away after a while.
Others: His grandfather wants to see him sing a solo performance once, and he intends to get over his shyness soon to do it. He’s working hard on it…
