Background:Born Gertrude Day, Getti is the middle child from a middle class family. Growing up as such in an obscure Northern England town, she had big dreams of a big life. Her older sister married young, started a family and til now still shines with the glow of motherhood. Her younger sister is a delinquent with pink streaked hair, and is always ready to apparate to yet another concert by her rockstar boyfriend.
When she graduated from Hogwarts, Getti went to further her studies abroad where she met her first husband at age 21. Baron Forde fed her dreams of living large and remodelled her into the perfect socialite. However, when her first silver hair showed at age 27, he was out of her life faster than you could say Ridikulus.
So Getti started her single life all over again in Monte Carlo (living off the more-than-substantial settlement from her divorce), this time more determined than ever to have her cake AND eat it! Her illustrious last name earned her a spot on the staff of one of the most notable fashion magazines in France, and soon she was stepping on all the little people and delegating her way to the top as Junior Editor.
Unsatisfied with the frivolities of managing a fashion magazine, as well as the owner’s reluctance to hand over the reins to a young woman… Getti allowed herself to be head-hunted by France’s National Newspaper. It wasn’t long before she was nearly at the top again, only to be kept at nearly by yet another male executive.
Finally ready to return to England, and conquer it, she went into talks with the Board for the Daily Prophet. Within a few months, she was made Creative Director of the paper. Now, years later, at age 38, Getti Forde is co-editor-in-chief of the paper… and still not completely satisfied.
Personality:
Getti Forde stops for no one. She’s ambitious, highly driven and frankly, a bit scary. It is a rare person who has seen Getti smile genuinely, and usually even they are not so sure if it was a smile for them, or for something they had done.
She doesn’t beat around the bush, and is often considered to be direct to the point of cutting. Named one of Witch Weekly’s most successful women in the Wizarding community, Getti aims to maintain her hold… or to own the magazine.
As a hard worker, she only expects the same level of dedication from her staff. Anything less is completely unacceptable, as far as she is concerned. She does, however, understand that some people do not prioritise as she does and chooses to spend time with their families instead of staying in the office until the wee hours of the mornings. Understanding, though, does not mean she accepts it as an excuse.
After a few years of heading the Daily Prophet, a combination of professional stress and lack of a personal life pushed this overly strung woman right off the edge, resulting in a very public nervous breakdown. She was escorted from the scene by several healers and straight into a St. Mungo's ward where she is now receiving regular therapeutic sessions. She has since resigned as the editor-in-chief and has been advised to live a quiet and restful life filled with charitable pursuits, an idea she finds hilarious.
